Stansfield is a delightful hidden gem within the picturesque hamlet of Church Knowle with its enchanting Purbeck stone cottages and nestling at the foot of Knowle Hill. Ideally situated for coastal walks, with a pub, 13 century church, and a base for exploring the stunning Dorset countryside. Being less than 5 mins from historic Corfe Castle where the ancient ruin frames the town, stunning views and where you can experience a unique train journey on a steam train. Less than 15 mins away is the ancient walled town of Wareham and 25 mins from the coastal town of Swanage with its sandy beach, swimming, fishing, cafes restaurants, lighthouse and coastal walks. Within 10 mins you reach Kimmeridge Bay where coastal waters are ideal for kayaking and paddle boarding plus the wonderful Etches fossil museum. Twenty five minutes away you will reach Studland, one of the most beautiful beaches on the south coast with a 4 mile stretch of golden sand.
The Accommodation
Set at the end of a quiet lane this self-catering cottage offers the perfect stay for 6 people plus a baby. This single story accommodation is most comfortably furnished and is suitable to be enjoyed at any time of the year. It is centrally heated and has a wood burning stove for cosy winter evenings. The conservatory offers a peaceful place to relax to view the hills beyond. The property is situated in its own grounds with a secluded garden, patio and furniture offering a private space for outdoor eating and children playing. The entrance opens into a wide drive with double gates suitable for several cars.
Living
The entrance to the cottage is at the front of the house through the conservatory where there are 2 chairs and a vintage bench. You can sit and enjoy the wonderful view across to the hills beyond – providing a fantastic social relaxing space. This is also a great place for your morning coffee as you plan your adventures for the day.
From the conservatory you enter the open plan living and dining area. The main living room has a warm welcoming vibe with a seating area of sofa and two armchairs, a wonderful fireplace featuring a real log burner, complete with basket of logs – perfect for curling up in the evening after a day of adventures. It has TV with Freeview, Apple and DVD player. The dining table seats 6 and can be extended.
Kitchen
From the kitchen sink one can look out to the horizon and see the top of Kingston tower in the distance. There is a good size stainless steel sink surrounded by beech worksurfaces, fitted oven, microwave, a four-gas burner hob, a dishwasher and washing machine. The cupboards contain all the necessary utensils required to make your stay home from home. We make it easy for your stay by providing essential kitchen and laundry products. From the kitchen there is a small lobby which contains two bins for recycling.
Hallway
The bedrooms lead off a spacious hallway where a bookcase shelves many interesting books including a wide range of useful local information, walks, maps and places to visit. The lower shelves have puzzles to do during rainy days.
Bedrooms
To enable a good night's sleep every consideration has been made to provide comfortable mattresses with good quality bed linen and towels provided. There is a king size room with ensuite, a second king bedroom with French doors looking out over the garden and a twin bedroom with 2 x 3ft beds overlooking the back garden. A travel cot is available.
Bathrooms
The en-suite has a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower, bath, wash basin, WC and a cupboard for your toiletries.
The Purbeck Area
This area of Dorset is known as the Purbeck peninsular, and Church Knowle is situated right in its heartland. There are mainly Purbeck stone cottages lining the street from where you will discover easy access to beautiful countryside. There are many delightful walks from the cottage with Knowle Hill right behind which has stunning views all around to the coast and beyond. You have access to the RSPB Arne nature reserve – a heathland just off the main Wareham Corfe Road, where you will see deer and many kinds of birds.
If you are looking to eat nearby then a two minute stroll brings you to the New Inn pub offering very good food or further on to Clavell's restaurant with their own courtyard and garden centrally located in the heart of the picturesque village of Kimmeridge. Corfe Castle is just a mile away where you will discover several pubs, restaurants and a tea room overlooking the historic castle.
In the centre of Church Knowle is a large children's play field ideal for children to let off steam before bedtime.
